An awesome event as usual.  Schedule conflicts limited my participation this year to only about 3 hours and activating from just 2 parks, but the propagation conditions on both 20 and 40 meters were incredible.

The pileups were constant so maintaining run rates of 60 per hour was very doable even with just 30 watts and an inverted “V” dipole antenna.

As usual the biggest challenge was accumulating park multipliers.  Making only one contact on 80 meters certainly didn’t help with that situation.

Very few QSOs on 80m. Most QSOs on 40m, some on 20m.
There was another ham in HCSP also participating in the contest which lessened the experience for me.
I know he had every right to operate from the same park but I’m not sure why I should list my park choice in the spreadsheet on the website if that situation is going to happen.

I set up with my son Max, KD9NZB, and we had visits from other hams as well as others just interested in radio and electronics.

My first year participating in the WIPOTA event but not my first time operating at a park in Wisconsin.
Was only able to get on the air for about 2 hours from Richard Bong State Recreation Area, I would have loved to be able to be on more, but other stuff came up and was not able to start until about 2 PM Local Time.
I was able to make my 1000th contact from RBRA during the event with NM9O who was operating at New Glarus State Park (NGSP), so thank you Matt!
Operated 100W SSB on 20 and 40m using my Yaesu FT-891, Buddistick Pro Antenna, and Bioenno Battey. Had a ton of fun and already looking forward to next year.
Took a few photos for the Bonus Points, but being from Chicago, I don’t own any Packers Gear, so a picture of me at the park entrance with a Green Bay Packers Lottery will have to do!

We activated the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway from our usual location for the fifth year in a row. We had three radios dedicated to 80, 40, and 20 meters.
You can see a short video of our setup at https://youtu.be/yQfUbQXvDdQ. With more sunspots, the bands were short this year, with only ground wave on 80.
Most of our contacts (58%) were on 40 with the rest on 20 except for 3 contacts on 15. Most of the good runs were on phone (66%) and most of the S&P was on CW.
We watched the POTA spots closely and got all our multipliers on 40 with good signals from all over Wisconsin. We made more contacts than last year but fewer multipliers.
The rovers were greatly missed. The weather was nice, cool and breezy. Thanks to the organizers, activators, and hunters.

It was a pretty darn reasonable day out for WIPOTA 2022. I didn’t apply enough bug spray and ended up with a left ankle full of GNSP mosquito bites.
The rain in Dane county never intensified much during my operating time, so the tree canopies above my operating positions were able to keep me humid rather than wet.
40m was generously short and long, but I was not able to work every 40m WI park spotted. As for spotting, I relied solely on POTA spotting in the field (https://pota.app/#/) on my phone.
Logging was shared on my phone using plain text entry into the Dropbox sync text editor.
Traveling to CPSP was a spur-of-the-moment choice toward the end of the contest period that worked out successfully.
